Featured Customer: De-Neita Peoples Study Abroad in London
De-Neita Peoples, a 25 year old Atlas Travel® customer who is currently traveling Europe, strives to live by the saying, “How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these”.
Born and raised in California, she has been exposed to different cultures and experiences her whole life, but she needed something new and fresh. De-Neita was looking for a challenge, and that challenge was Law School. She is now entering her 3rd year of Law School this Fall at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Knowing her last year of school was drawing near; she realized it was her last chance to take advantage of the study abroad program offered by her university.
The first day of the program started June 25, but De-Neita was eager to begin her European adventure and arrived several weeks ahead of time. Germany was her first stop, where she went rock climbing about two hours away from Bavaria. The old style of rock climbing made use a metal cable attached to the rock below. She witnessed 5-7 year old children learning this skill, as Germans begin this type of rock climbing at a very young age.
De-Neita lives in Camden, which is in the heart of London. Since she is pursuing her degree in law, the House of Parliament is a key site to visit. One benefit of studying abroad with a university is that you can take free tours that are usually costly. Olympic athletes are also filtering into London for the 2012 Olympics, bringing all sorts of life and culture into the city. The athletes are very involved with their fans- taking pictures, signing autographs, and socializing with locals as well as the people involved in the production of the Olympic events.
With trips to Italy and France on De-Neita's tentative schedule, her European adventures during her study abroad are currently in stride.
