How to Pack a Suitcase for Business Travel | Video
Chuck Gose, a frequent business traveler, met with us at the Indianapolis Conrad Hotel to share his tips on how to pack a suitcase for business travel.
My name is Chuck Gose and I pack an awesome travel bag.
A great tip comes down to [how you pack] your bag.
You do not need to spend a lot of money on your bag, but you do need a nice durable bag.
More important than the bag itself is the size of the bag.
With it becoming expensive to check in bags with airlines, it’s good to have a nice small bag.
I’ve had this bag now for several years.
Many people are amazed that I can fit everything for a three to four day business trip in here.
By being very disciplined in your packing, following the same procedures and being prepared every time, everything should easily fit in one small bag.
When I travel for business, I bring one pair of shoes. One reason for that is I have size 14 feet so shoes take up a lot of space in luggage.
I don’t have that kind of space in my bag so I bring one pair of shoes that fill multiple needs.
I can use them for business meetings, or casual, later in the night.
I don’t have to waste space in my bag with gym shoes, casual shoes or dress shoes.
The shoes I’m wearing are the shoes that I packed.
For packing when you are trying to balance casual and professional, you have to find clothes that achieve both.
For example, what I’m wearing today, a blue blazer and dress shirt, this could be paired with dress pants or jeans like I am wearing today.
You have to have clothing that allows you to be flexible so you are not so rigid having only suits or only having jeans packed.
You want to make sure that the clothes you bring can be paired up with multiple options.
