You have decided you want to go to Europe, but there is just one problem: You have no idea how to plan a trip to Europe. You can relax a little bit. Our short guide will give you the stepping-stones that are necessary to turn a huge journey into a manageable checklist. There is a lot that goes into a trip this large, but if you take it one step at a time and start planning well in advance you will get through the process with ease.
Step 1: Decide where you want to go.
You have obviously decided to go to Europe, but you have over 30 countries to choose from and many different climates and terrains to visit. You have to decide if you want to be in forest areas, mountains or relax on the numerous beaches. Decide if you want to visit the ocean or the interior of the continent. Do you want to go somewhere where people do not speak English? There are a lot of questions to consider when choosing your destination. And if you cannot decide you might think about an international travel package.
Step 2: Decide what you want to see.
Within every European country, you will find a rich culture and a history full of delicious cuisine, fine architecture, and breathtaking works of art. What interests you most about your dream destination? Be sure to build your itinerary around the most important parts of your trip.
Step 3: Get your documents and transportation in order.
Before you travel, you need to make sure all of your documents are in order. Make sure your passport is up to date. You need to make copies of your passport, itinerary, IDs, and insurance papers. Leave a copy at home with someone you trust and take the originals and another copy with you, but make sure to keep them separate, so you always have a backup. Once you have your travel documents together, go ahead and arrange your transportation. It is ideal to package transportation with hotel accommodations to save money, and you should definitely look into some good ways to find super cheap flights and get around in Europe by train or rental car.
Do not let the process get you down. Just remember that, in the end, planning a trip to Europe that is perfect for you is simple. Take it one step at a time and soon you’ll be across the ocean!
