What is StudentSecure Budget?

For the economical student, StudentSecure Budget is mid-level study abroad insurance. This health insurance coverage is available for full-time international students or scholars studying outside their home country. A Budget policy is perfect for:

  • Students needing a coverage balance between the essentials and more specific needs
  • Scholars traveling on a J-1 or F-1 visa

Why do I need international student insurance?

International study can represent financial risk, and many medical insurance policies do not apply beyond the borders of your home country. A StudentSecure Budget international student health plan can reduce your personal expenses if an unexpected illness or injury should occur during your study abroad program.

What are my options?

Many universities offer their own student health insurance plans to international students. However, university-sponsored plans can be expensive. Most schools allow international students to waive the university’s mandated coverage if the student can provide proof of comparable health insurance coverage.

StudentSecure Budget meets both J-1 and F-1 visa requirements, as well as most schools’ requirements, at an affordable rate. If your university allows you to waive its school plan, you may be asked to provide a signed waiver form from your private insurance company or some other proof of accepted insurance coverage.

Tokio Marine HCC – MIS Group provides both student waiver forms as well as visa letters for students who need to provide proof of coverage to their schools. Students can submit a request for either form by emailing MIS - Group will fill out the necessary information and send copies of the completed forms to both the student and their school.
