You stand looking out over the ocean. The beach is still empty and the sun is just starting to rise. You wade in ankle-deep to see how the water feels. Though it is cool at first, it warms as you stand there. You take a deep breath – breathing in deep ocean air. And then you race off into the shallow waters with body board in hand.

While many insurance companies charge extra to cover extreme sports like bodyboarding, Atlas Travel insurance includes coverage for body boarding injuries that occur while abroad...

Your love for the ocean has taken you around the world, and while you may not be up for such ocean sports as surfing or scuba diving, bodyboarding is just right for you. But did you know that if you travel abroad, your domestic medical insurance may not follow you? Atlas Travel® insurance from HCC Medical Insurance Services (HCCMIS) offers you the protection you need. When you purchase Atlas Travel, it can help you avoid high medical bills due to body boarding accidents and injuries.

Competitors charge 15% more for sports injuries, but Atlas Travel covers them without adding cost!

While many insurance companies charge extra to cover extreme sports like bodyboarding, Atlas Travel insurance includes coverage for bodyboarding injuries that occur while abroad at no additional charge. We offer several different Atlas Travel plans depending on your destination for bodyboarding and how many are in your group. Atlas America® is designed for those whose travel includes the U.S. or Canada. If you are traveling outside of the U.S., we have Atlas International® insurance. Traveling with a group? If you have 5 or more in your group, you should check out Atlas Group® for a discounted rate!

The Riding Forms of Bodyboarding

Before you go out and purchase a bodyboard, there are a few things you should consider. Every board is unique and riders should select the appropriate board based on height, weight, and preferred riding form. What are the riding forms? Well, there are three different forms:

Forms of Bodyboarding

  • Prone: In this form, the rider lies on his or her belly, using the hands to steer the board.
  • Dropknee: In this form, the rider kneels on one knee and rides the water. Sometimes referred to as the “Jack Stance.”
  • Stand-up: In this form, the rider stands on the bodyboard, allowing more tricks and greater air time.
