Visitor's Travel Insurance

In order to travel to the United States, most visitors are required to obtain a visitor visa. Visitors to the USA are considered those travelers who are visiting for business (a B-1 visa), or for pleasure or medical treatment (a B-2 visa).

According to the U.S. Department of State, applicants for visitor visas demonstrate:

  • That the purpose of their trip is to enter the U.S. for business, pleasure, or medical treatment;
  • That they plan to remain for a specific, limited period;
  • Evidence of funds to cover expenses in the United States;
  • Evidence of compelling social and economic ties abroad; and
  • That they have a residence outside the U.S. as well as other binding ties that will insure their return abroad at the end of the visit.

When you are arranging international travel, you must spend time planning for your health and safety along the way.

If you are heading to the USA, consider purchasing visitor travel insurance like Atlas America®, which can help protect you against unforeseen problems that may derail your travel plans. As you plan your trip to the USA, be aware of your health and safety. Think of insurance coverage as being as important as your passport. Without proper coverage, you may not be able to get adequate health care in case of emergency or illness, or the care you do receive may be extremely expensive.

According to the U.S. Department of State, it is highly encouraged to travel with a visitor travel insurance plan which includes medical coverage like Atlas America®, since seeking medical treatment outside of your home country can be very expensive – especially if you need to be evacuated in an emergency.

Visitor Travel Insurance Benefits of Atlas America®

Emergency Medical Evacuation

The emergency medical evacuation benefit provides for emergency air and ground transportation to the nearest hospital where you can receive adequate medical care. If a covered injury or an illness arises when you have Atlas America® insurance and the necessary treatment, services, and supplies cannot be locally provided and alternate transportation methods would result in the loss of life or limb, the emergency medical evacuation benefit can be utilized.

Lost Luggage

If an airline or cruise line carrier loses your baggage, HCCMIS will pay up to $250 for the replacement of clothes and personal hygiene items.

Return of Minor Children

If you are traveling alone with one or more children under the age eighteen and you need to be hospitalized for a covered illness or injury which results in the children being left unattended for more than thirty-six hours, HCCMIS will pay for the air or ground transportation ticket to return your children covered by Atlas Travel to their principal residence.

Trip Interruption

For those insured under Atlas America®, HCCMIS will pay for a return ticket to your principal residence if there is damage to your principal residence or a death in your family. The trip interruption benefit can also be claimed following an emergency medical evacuation. Trip interruption following an emergency medical evacuation is provided if the attending physician states it is medically necessary for you to return to your home country for recuperation, treatment, and recovery.

Atlas America Visitor Travel Insurance provides additional travel benefits like:

  • Emergency reunion
  • Repatriation of remains
  • Natural disaster coverage
  • Terrorism coverage
  • Political evacuation
  • Crisis response coverage
  • Personal liability coverage
