Parents and relatives living overseas often visit their children, grandchildren, and other friends or family in the U.S. However, there is always a risk of hospitalization for injuries or sicknesses as a US visitor. Having to go to a U.S. hospital without health insurance can be financially devastating. Purchasing health insurance for visiting parents protects you from incurring the financial burden when a family member has to be hospitalized. Although you may love visiting with a relative, you will probably not enjoy being left with the costs of their medical care.

Atlas America Insurance – A solution for individuals needing insurance for visiting parents
Purchasing a short-term international visitors insurance plan before heading out on a trip overseas is crucial for protecting your financial well-being. An accident, injury, or illness could occur at any time and any place. Medical care can be very expensive abroad. In many areas, you may find that you are not able to receive medical care, including emergency care, unless you are able to pay in advance. You do not want to be sitting in an emergency room in another country when you find out you are not covered by your domestic insurance while outside of your home country. There are some domestic plans that do offer coverage when a member is abroad, but it is often at a limited amount. It’s important to look for medical coverage like local ambulance, hospitalization, diagnostic testing, and the like. Our Atlas Travel® health insurance plan offers health insurance coverage while you’re on a trip abroad; it’s a safeguard for your finances while you travel outside of your Home Country. With its worldwide coverage and international provider network, our Atlas Travel insurance is the visitor’s insurance plan you need!

Safe Travel Tips for USA Visitors
Don’t Take Too Much Money or Valuables
Only carry as much money as you need. If you take travelers checks, don’t carry too many and only cash them as needed. Leave any valuable possessions you don’t need at home. If you think you might be able to survive without something, then it’s probably something that can stay at home. By taking valuables abroad, you risk losing them.
Be Mindful of Public Transportation
Only use certified public transportation. Even when using official public transit, be watchful of your surroundings. Only use city-approved taxis and if it looks suspicious, don’t use it.
Know Emergency Numbers
It is important to know common emergency numbers while in the US. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, the best number to call is 911. Calling this number will connect you to police, fire departments and medical services. Please be sure to also notify HCCMIS in case of a medical emergency. Keep insurance documentation available at all times.
Keep Your Insurance Information Readily Available
Accidents and injuries can happen almost anywhere. Be sure to keep a copy of your Atlas America® ID card with you. If you have lost your ID card, though, don’t worry. You can reprint another ID card in the Client Zone by logging in with your policy number and date of birth. There are plenty of ways to contact HCCMIS in case of a medical emergency:
