Very few people actually enjoy packing. In fact, most leave that horrible task to the last minute, which can add unwanted stress.   • Do Not Wait. The first piece of advice any packer should here is: do not wait until the last minute. Waiting until the night before you leave can often cause you to panic, rush, and then forget to pack something important. Instead, start packing a few days in advance so that you can take your time and make sure nothing is forgotten.
  • Make a List. The first thing you do, before you even begin to pack, is to make a list of the things you think you need to pack. If you are traveling somewhere new, in order to make your list you might need to do a little research. Remember that you do not want to seem too much like a tourist because that can draw unwanted attention to you.
  • Check the Weather. As you start packing, check the weather of your destination. Will you need rain gear? Is it supposed to be hot or cold? Will you need sunscreen or bug spray? Knowing the answer to these questions will help you decide what you need to pack in terms of clothing. You should pack the right clothes for the weather and atmosphere of your destination.
  • Toiletries. If you are flying, you might consider purchasing toiletries once you get to your destination. Flying with shampoos, soaps, and lotions can be a hassle. So to avoid the stress of meeting certain regulations, consider simply purchasing toiletries once you arrive.
  • Carry-Ons. If you are flying, then you will probably be taking a carry-on bag on the plane with you. For good measure, consider taking an extra pair of clothing in this bag. Sometimes, airlines lose our luggage, but that will not be quite as big of a deal if you have a spare set of clothes with you.
  • Suitcase Weight. Some airlines have weight restrictions on suitcases, so unless you want to pay extra, you should weigh your bag before going to the airport. If your bag is too big, consider some of the “extra” stuff you have packed. Do you need two pairs of shoes? Or that extra sweater? What can you eliminate?
