StudentSecure® Budget Insurance

For the economical scholar, StudentSecure Budget is mid-level study abroad insurance that meets J-1 visa requirements at a budget-friendly rate. This international student health coverage is available to full-time international students or scholars studying outside their home country.

StudentSecure Budget is designed for:

  • Students seeking a coverage balance between the essentials and more specific needs
  • Scholars traveling on a J-1 or F-1 visa

Why do I need international student health insurance?

International study can represent financial risk, and many medical insurance policies do not apply beyond the borders of your home country. A StudentSecure Budget international student health plan can reduce your personal expenses if an unexpected illness or injury should occur during your study abroad program.

What are my options?

Many universities offer their own student health insurance plans to international students. However, university-sponsored plans are not your only option. Most schools allow international students to waive the university’s mandated coverage if the student can provide proof of health insurance coverage meeting the university’s requirements.

StudentSecure Budget meets J-1 visa requirements, as well as most schools’ requirements, at a budget-friendly rate. If your university allows you to waive its school plan, you may be asked to provide a signed waiver form or visa letter from your private insurance company.

Tokio Marine HCC – MIS Group provides student waiver forms as well as visa letters to students who need to provide proof of coverage to their schools. Students can submit a request for either form by emailing [email protected]. MIS - Group will fill out the necessary information and send copies of the completed forms to both the student and their school.

You can also download a visa letter through our StudentZone, where you can conveniently manage your StudentSecure policy online.
