StudentSecure® Smart Insurance

For the budget-conscious scholar, StudentSecure Smart is international student health insurance that provides coverage for full-time students or scholars studying outside their home country.

StudentSecure Smart is designed for:

  • Students participating in a cultural exchange program
  • International students studying in the USA on a J-1 or F-1 visa
  • International students wanting a budget-friendly alternative to their school's health insurance plan

Why do I need international student insurance?

Studying abroad can represent financial risk in the form of unexpected medical expenses. Many health insurance policies do not apply beyond the borders of your home country. A StudentSecure Smart international student health plan can reduce your personal expenses if you experience an unexpected illness or injury during your study abroad program.

What are my options?

Many universities offer their own student health insurance plans to international students. However, these plans are not your only option.

StudentSecure Smart is designed to offer a budget-friendly alternative to those school plans by providing only select benefits, while still meeting J-1 visa requirements (F-1 visas do not have an insurance requirement).

If you're looking for options with more benefits, explore other StudentSecure levels on the comparison page.

Proof of Coverage

Tokio Marine HCC – MIS Group provides student waiver forms and visa letters for students who need to provide proof of coverage to their school. Submit your request for either form by emailing [email protected]. We will fill out the necessary information and send copies of the completed forms to both you and your school.

You can also download a visa letter through our StudentZone, where you can conveniently manage your StudentSecure policy online.
