While traditional travel insurance often makes you upgrade your plan at additional cost to include emergency medical insurance benefits, Atlas Travel insurance includes emergency medical benefits with your plan.

Emergency medical insurance benefits are not subject to a deductible or coinsurance, which means you have zero out-of-pocket expenses for eligible benefits. All of the following Atlas emergency medical benefits are included with your Atlas Travel plan and are not subject to a deductible or coinsurance1:

Atlas Travel Insurance Benefits

While knowing that you have these benefits is helpful, knowing what they mean and how to use them will ensure that you are prepared if any medical emergency arises. Below you will find a brief guide to how to use your emergency medical benefits with Atlas Travel.

Emergency Medical Evacuation

What does it mean?

The emergency medical evacuation insurance benefit provides for emergency air and ground transportation to the nearest hospital where you can receive adequate medical care. If a covered injury or an illness arises while you are covered by Atlas Travel and the necessary treatment, services, and supplies cannot be locally provided and alternate transportation methods would result in the loss of life or limb, the emergency medical insurance evacuation benefit can be utilized.

During the emergency

Contact HCCMIS®. Emergency medical evacuation is arranged and coordinated by our office. HCC Medical Insurance Service has connections with transportation services all over the world, so you do not need to arrange your own transportation. Furthermore, medical transport services most often require payment in advance for emergency medical transportation.

Your treating physician will certify that the hospital or facility is unable to provide you with life-saving medical care. This medical documentation needs to be emailed to service@hccmis.com as this information will later facilitate the claims process.

You will be transported to the nearest hospital qualified to provide medical care and treated there for any continued medical care that is necessary up to your policy maximum for eligible medical expenses. You will be transported by emergency air or ground transportation to receive medical treatment. For members visiting the U.S., HCC Medical Insurance Services will pay for expenses to return you to your home country if the attending physician and our medical consultants agree that transfer to the member’s home country is more appropriate than transfer to the nearest qualified hospital.

After the emergency:

HCC Medical Insurance Services will need to receive an itemized medical bill, any receipts for medical expenses incurred, and a completed claim form within 60 days of the termination date of your policy. Claim forms can be obtained online here.

Notice of Claim, Claimant’s Statement and Authorization, and Proof of Claim can be mailed to:

HCC Medical Insurance Services, LLC
P.O. Box No. 2005, Farmington Hills, MI 48333-2005.

Claims information can also be emailed to service@hccmis.com.
